Why Aptaneo exists

One weak skill can hold back a whole application.

For Express Entry and many other programs, IRCC asks for a CLB level in each of the four skills. Your strongest skill does not help your weakest one. Many people practise everything a little, and the skill that matters most gets the least time.

So we built a tool that starts with evidence. It finds the gap, explains it with your own words and answers, and gives you practice for that gap first.

Principles

Four rules we build by.

When a product decision is hard, we check it against these rules.

    Evidence over predictions

    We show the band range your practice supports, with its source and date. We never tell you what you will score on test day.

  2. 02

    One gap at a time

    Your plan starts with the skill that is furthest from your target. When that gap closes, the plan moves to the next one.

  3. 03

    Calm

    No streaks, points or countdowns. Missing a day does not reset anything. Messages are short and literal.

  4. 04

    Private by default

    Your essays and recordings are visible only to you. We use them for research only with your separate permission.

How we build scoring

Public criteria. Tested before it ships.

Public criteria
Writing and speaking are scored against the four public IELTS criteria. Every criterion band quotes your own words.
Answer keys
Listening and reading use an answer key and a versioned raw-score to band table.
Accuracy gate
Before a scorer goes live, we compare it with examiner scores on answers it has never seen. It ships only if the average error is 0.50 band or less.
Versioned method
Every report shows the method version. When the method changes, we say what changed and when.
